On Sunday, August 30, the Marin Council of Scouting America held its countywide Cub Scout Pinewood Derby in the Lodge 1108 Carriage House.
Each Cub Scout designs, carves and decorates their own car. Every car must meet the same size and weight rules, so the races are fair across all age groups.
More than 40 Cub Scouts entered a car, and about 120 people came out to cheer them on: parents, siblings, friends and adult scout leaders. This year the cubs raced to music, enjoyed a pizza lunch with a magician, and the non-racers kept busy building with Legos.
This is the third time Lodge 1108 has hosted the Derby, and we're proud to keep the tradition going.
Scouting at the Lodge doesn't stop there: Troop 101 now meets in the Carriage House on Mondays at 6:30 PM. Welcome, Scouts!
